Light stared grimly at the handcuff on his wrist. He'd have to find some way to remove it- a hacksaw, maybe, if he could find one. He'd searched through L's pockets, but couldn't find a key. His next move would be to ransack the hotel room, but it was a little difficult with the dead weight dragging at his arm. He'd have to find some way to cut his arm free, and then he could get the cuff off.
He prodded the body of the detective, and his fingers came away wet. For a moment, Light felt the absurd urge to taste it; in the darkness he could almost pretend it was just sugar water, or the tea L drank. "Drank" probably wasn't the right word- "gnawed on" was more appropriate.
Of course L would bleed sweets. His internal organs were probably made of cake. Light indulged himself with that thought for a moment; the idea of serving slices of L at Sai's birthday party- he'd missed the last one- made him happy.
He prodded L again, and the body slid off the bed to the floor, jerking on his arm.
Do you see me as such a human being?
I can see you as such.
He'd hit L for suggesting it, before. "Guess you were right all along, Ryuuzaki."
In the corner, Ryuuku laughed, and laughed, and laughed, while Light clutched the gun in his free hand.
Light heard nothing.
